Move Tool (V):
This tool helps you moving and dragging objects in the artwork or from an artwork to another, by using it u can move selections, layers, and guidelines.

Rectangular Marquee Tool (M):
If you want to make a rectangular selections, use this tool. The hidden tools* are:

Elliptical Marquee Tool: Makes elliptical and circular selections.
Single row marquee tool: Makes selections with 1 pixel wide.
Single column marquee tool: Makes selections with 1 pixel wide.
Crop tool (C): Trims images.

 

Magic Wand Tool (W):
Use this tool to select similarly colored areas. How much the similarity can be is defined by "Tolerance" option.

 

Lasso Tool (L):
Use this tool to make freehand selections. Make a selection by dragging your pointer around. The hidden tools* are:

Polygon lasso Tool: Draws freehand and straight-edged selections.
Magnetic lasso tool: Draws selection borders that cling to the edges of objects.

 

Paintbrush Tool (B):
It paints brush strokes with the Foreground color.

 

Airbrush Tool (J):
It paints soft-edged strokes with the Foreground color.

 

History Brush Tool (Y):
The history brush tool paints with the selected state or snapshot. The hidden tools* are:

Art History Brush Tool: Paints with stylized strokes that simulate the look of different paint styles.

 

Rubber Stamp Tool (S):
This tool paints with a copy of an image. The hidden tools* are:

Pattern Stamp Tool: Paints with pattern.

 

Pencil Tool (N):
Use it to draw hard-edged strokes. The hidden tools* are:

Line Tool: Draws straight lines.

 

Eraser Tool (E):
This tool erases pixels and restores parts of an image to a previously saved state by pressing Alt. The hidden tools* are:

Background Eraser Tool: Erases areas to transparency by dragging.
Magic Eraser Tool: Erases solid-colored areas to transparency with a single click.

 

Dodge Tool (O):
The dodge tool lightens areas in an image. The hidden tools* are:

Burn Tool: Darkens areas in an image.
Sponge tool: Changes the color saturation of an area.

 

Blur Tool (R):
The blur tool blurs hard edges in an image. The hidden tools* are:

Sharpen Tool: Sharpens soft edges.
Smudge tool: Smudges data in an image.

 

Type Tool (T):
The type tool creates type on an image. The hidden tools* are:

Type Mask Tool: Creates selection borders in the shape of the text you type.
Vertical Type Tool: Creates vertical type on an image.
Vertical Type Mask Tool: Creates selection borders in the shape of the vertical type.

 

Pen Tool (P):
The pen tool lets you draw smooth-edged paths. The hidden tools* are:

Magnetic Pen Tool: Draws paths that cling to the edges of objects.
Freeform Pen Tool: Draws paths directly as you drag.
Add Anchor Point Tool (+): Adds anchor points to a path.
Delete Anchor Point Tool (-): Deletes anchor points from a path.
Direct Selection Tool (A): Selects and moves paths and parts of paths.
Convert Anchor Point Tool: Converts straight line segments to curved segments, and vice versa.

 

Linear Gradient Tool (G):
The linear gradient tool creates a straight-line blend between colors. The hidden tools* are:

Radial Gradient Tool: Creates a circular blend between colors.
Angle Gradient Tool: Creates an angular blend between colors.
Reflected Gradient Tool: Creates symmetric straight-line blends between colors.
Diamond Gradient Tool: Creates diamond-shaped blends between colors.

 

Measure Tool (U):
Measures distances, locations, and angles.

 

Eyedropper Tool (I):
Samples colors in an image. The hidden tools* are:

Color Sampler Tool: Samples up to four locations simultaneously.

 

Paint Bucket Tool (K):
The paint bucket tool fills similarly colored areas with the foreground color. How much the similarity can be is defined by "Tolerance" option.

 

Zoom Tool (Z):
The zoom tool magnifies and reduces the view of an image.

 

Hand Tool (H):
The hand tool moves an image within its window.

Foreground Color, Background Color:
The Foreground and Background color buttons let you choose a foreground or background color. Here, Black is the Foreground color, White is the background color. Use the X key to switch between them. And use the D key for default colors.

 

Editing Mode (Q):

Edit in Standard Mode: Lets you turn off Quick Mask mode and return to your original image.
Edit in Quick Mask Mode: Lets you edit any selection as a mask using an overlay that protects the area outside the selection.

 

Screen Mode (F):
This tool

Standard Screen Mode: Displays artwork in a standard window, with a menu bar at the top and scroll bars on the sides.
Full Screen Mode with Menu Bar: Displays artwork in a full-screen window with a menu bar but with no title bar or scroll bars.
Full screen mode: Displays artwork in a full-screen window, but with no title bar, menu bar, or scroll bars.

 

Jump to default graphics editor application:
Use this button to be able to use both of Photoshop and Image Ready together. It helps you jumping between these two applications. You will need this action to transfer your artwork between the two applications for editing, without needing to close or exit any one of them.
