There are too many ways to create a drop shadow for your object, but i'm gonna show you some simple way to do that. Here is an image and we want to make a drop shadow for a part of it.

Draw out a rectangle with the Rectangular Marquee tool, now press Ctrl+C on your keyboard to copy the selected part. Paste it twice to get two copies of the same part.
Now click on the Layer 1 (as shown below) and check the Preserve Transparency option for this layer.

Make the black as your Foreground Color by pressing D on keyboard. Press Alt+Delete on your keyboard to fill the object with black. Now move the layer two pixels right, and two pixels down.

Uncheck the Preserve Transparency option and go to Filter> Blur> Gaussian Blur, Radius=3, and change the transparency to 60.
Tip: in step you may choose another color than black to colorize your shadow
